About

Resources for the Future and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s third quadrennial conference focuses on energy economics, policy, and technology at the intersection of research and decision-making. The program includes an opening session, “A New Era in Research for Decisionmaking,” and topical breakout sessions on Energy Supply Chains, Energy Workforce Transitions, Industrial Decarbonization, and Energy System Resilience. Additional discussions address accessing, building, and sharing datasets; quantitative and qualitative research strategies; engaging new audiences; and building communities of practice. Sessions also examine consumer preferences related to electricity rate design, energy efficiency, vehicle purchase decisions, and energy policy choices, as well as clean-tech research and deployment involving nuclear energy, geothermal technologies, carbon capture, and carbon dioxide removal. The program includes a fireside chat with a leading energy systems thinker and a funders’ panel on emerging research needs and opportunities for impact. In-person attendance is by invitation only.
