About
The technical program features proposed sessions on Rocky Mountain petroliferous basins; geology and engineering challenges in unconventional and tight-rock reservoirs; geothermal resources and prospects; geologic hydrogen and helium exploration and production; carbon sequestration and natural-gas storage; and the intersection of petroleum geology and engineering with critical minerals. Additional sessions address orphaned and abandoned wells, produced-water management, sedimentary rocks and mine waste as sources of critical minerals, economic geology, rare-earth-element deposits and related geochemistry, regional mapping, tectonics and basin analysis, structural geology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, and poster sessions with core displays. The opening keynote speaker is Dr. Johnny MacLean, Chancellor of Montana Technological University. The convention luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Carlotta B. Chernoff, Global Chief Geoscientist for ConocoPhillips. Student and young professional programming includes a meet-and-greet, recruiting and networking, mentoring roundtables, and a scientific-writing workshop.
